Free CPR Saturday this weekend

The annual American Red Cross Free CPR Saturday is this weekend at 15 metro Atlanta sites, including Fayetteville. Kaiser Permanente is serving as the primary sponsor for the sixth consecutive year.

The event is set for March 2 at Fayette County High School, 1 Tiger Trail, starting at 9 a.m. New classes will begin every half-hour until the last class begins at 2 p.m. The training takes about four hours. These classes typically cost around $40.

Ruben Brown, director of the South Metro Red Cross Service Center, said that this training is made available "to make the community a safer place in which to live." He stressed that Red Cross volunteers will be on hand to assist in these activities.

For details and to register, call the South Metro Red Cross Service Center at 770-961-2552. Registration can also be done online at www.redcrossatlanta.org.

Brown added that walk-in participants will also be accepted and will be placed in the first available class.

General information is available by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (733-2767).
