If you start to see more adidas products at the Peachtree City Tennis Center, there's a good reason why.

Adidas officials signed a deal with the tennis center Sunday to supply products and apparel to the center over the next five years, said Virgil Christian, executive director of the Peachtree City Development Authority, which operates the tennis center and amphitheater.

The contract has a valued worth of $150,000, which is the projected amount of savings the center will realize by not having to spend money on those items, Christian said. That includes staff apparel for both the tennis center and amphitheater in addition to such items as t-shirts for youth camp participants.

"It's definitely going to have a major impact on our bottom line," Christian said.

The deal also allows the tennis center to host adidas summer camps and a special adidas tournament every other year that features the top 16 collegiate teams in country such as UCLA, Pepperdine, Notre Dame and Tennessee, Christian added.

The tennis center will also serve as the host for the finals in a professional tournament that is put on by adidas and Octagon, a major sports marketing firm. The center will be one of nine sites used in the Atlanta area, and Christian hopes to network with other sports-related firms who will visit here in the hopes of convincing them to relocate here.

"It's a natural fit, the best sports brand in the world teaming up with what is certainly one of the best tennis facilities in the country," said Sophie Goldschmidt of adidas. "The Development Authority of Peachtree City has definitely set the standard in the tennis industry in the managing of the Peachtree City Tennis Center."

Adidas officials also agreed to try and host one of its national sales conferences in Peachtree City in the near future.

"Atlanta is the biggest tennis market in the world, and they (Adidas) are saying this is the place for tennis in Atlanta," Christian said.
