North Fayette residents to discuss future park

Residents of the north Fayette area will meet with county officials next week to talk about plans for a community park.

Members of the North Fayette Community Association will gather at the Country Lake clubhouse Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The county recently purchased 170 acres for the park, including more than 40 acres of permanent green space.

Tentative plans include ball fields, a picnic area and possibly a pavilion.

Fronting on Kenwood Road and Ga. Highway 279, the park could be under construction as early as next summer, according to County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn.

Meeting with the residents will be Mark Pullium, county finance director; Ron Salmons, director of engineering, and Mary Alice Lawrence, director of parks and recreation.
