Who is Paschal English and will he make a good Survivor? By MICHAEL

Superior Court Judge Paschal English was recently announced as one of the 16 contestants on the fourth installment of CBS' hit series "Survivor." Many around here know him as the judge who spoke out on The Market, a teen dance club known for its lewd dancing. English has a distinguished past which may give him some advantages on the program. English attended the University of Georgia and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a doctor of jurisprudence. He also was in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973 and was stationed in Southeast Asia from 1971-1972. After leaving the Air Force as a captain, English joined the Georgia Air National Guard, from which he retired as a colonel in 1998. He was the chief assistant district attorney for 12 years before becoming a judge. He has been married for 35 years to his wife, Beverly, and has two grown daughters, Ashley and Rachel. He is a member of several bar associations and is on the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. This background shows that English is a well educated man with survival skills, discipline and a background in the area.
