J.O.Y. Club setting busy calendar

The J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) Club is planning a full schedule of events for members in the near future.

The tag line for the senior club is "An active seniors club in Fayette County offering a mix of cultural, educational and social activities."

The club is open to all in the community who are 50 or older and, according to program coordinator Suzanne Chrispen, "who like to have fun and make friends."

It is not necessary to be a member of the club to join them on their many trips. The cost per year to join the club is $20 per person.

Some of the upcoming trips include a Feb. 22 visit to the Southeastern Flower Show, a fun day at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon and a day trip to the High Museum of Art in April. The club will tour the Jarrell Plantation Historical Site April 17 and many are excited about an evening at "Agatha's: A Taste of Mystery" set for April 30.

Past trips have included enjoyable evenings at the Fox to see the Rockettes and Phantom of the Opera. For those who enjoy sports, past trips to see the Braves in action might have whet their appetite to tag along with the group.

There is a reasonable fee to cover the cost of transportation and tickets to the events. Meals are usually separate, except for events like the trip to Agatha's scheduled for April. Agatha's is a dinner mystery theater and a five-course meal is included in the price. The audience has the option to participate as a player in the theater presentation or simply sit back and enjoy the action around them as they eat.

Space is limited for the events and prior reservations are required. To find out more about the group or upcoming activities, call Suzanne Chrispen at 770-461-0813. The J.O.Y. Club is an outreach activity of Fayette Senior Service in Fayetteville.
