Samaritans set 10-year open house
It was just 10 years ago that several churches in Fayette County saw the need for an organization to assist those county citizens in need of food, clothing or an electric bill paid. The Fayette Samaritans were the result. In celebration of its 10 years, it is holding an Open House this Saturday, Feb. 9th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Samaritans are a non-profit organization that is operated by a number of volunteers. Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., those in need must fill out an application, their need is quickly assessed and if approved, they are given a maximum amount of food that constitutes a two-week supply, or the proper clothing or a voucher to use at a company, business or landlord. The organization is located at 213 N. Jeff Davis Place, Suite 102, Fayetteville. It is behind Leslie's Contracting. For information call Lena Slaughter, 770-487-4664.
