Fayette deputies collar counterfeiting suspect By JOHN MUNFORD
Quick action by several Fayette deputies Wednesday led to the arrest of a Jonesboro man for passing a possible counterfeit $100 bill. The arrest may provide a break in other local counterfeit cases at Belk's and the Bath and Beauty Store, according to detectives. After viewing a video tape of the incident at the Goody's at Fayette Pavilion, deputies Aaron Fenimore, Mike Jones and Wayne Hall scoured adjacent parking lots looking for the suspect. Tyrone Redditt, 30, was arrested before he could get to his car, which was parked farther away from Goody's, said Lt. Mike Hattaway of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. "He had walked a long way off, towards the Belk area," Hattaway said. Redditt was caught with three more potential counterfeit $100s in his possession, and he was charged with three counts of forgery in the first degree and three counts of forgery in the second degree. The U.S. Secret Service is assisting Fayette County detectives with the case, which may lead to federal charges being filed, Hattaway noted. It is believed that Redditt also passed counterfeit bills at the Belk's and Bath and Beauty stores in Fayetteville along with other stores in Fayetteville and Clayton County, detectives said.
