Romeo named new director of amphitheater Donna Romeo has been named the new director of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City. Romeo, who has served as the assistant director since 1998, has been running the facility since the departure of former director Kristi Rapson in November. "I have some pretty big shoes to fill, but I'm very excited," said Romeo, noting the Rapson's success with the amphitheater's summer concert series. Virgil Christian, the executive director of the Peachtree City Development Authority which runs the amphitheater said Romeo is "one of the finest facility directors around." "She has shown herself to be professional in areas of management, contract negotiations, procurement of talent and putting together an outstanding entertainment package for our citizens," Christian said. "On behalf of the Development Authority of Peachtree City it is with great pleasure that we welcome her to our team ... It is going to be an outstanding summer and an outstanding 10 concerts!" Romeo has been working on lining up the acts for this summer's weekend concert series, which has been made easier with the support of the series' sponsors and patrons, she added. The acts will be announced Friday, Feb. 15, she said. Romeo said she has been pleased with the support she has received from sponsors, some of which have increased their level of support. Four new sponsors have also been signed on for this year's series.
