Delta pilots give kids a ride

Transport vehicle donated to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

The Delta pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, recently presented Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with the first gift from the Delta Pilots Charitable Fund a $200,000 state-of-the-art pediatric transport vehicle.

"The Delta pilots are proud to know that our gift will make a difference in saving the lives of children," said Will Buergey, Delta MEC chairman. "Children's Healthcare of Atlanta was an easy choice for our first recipient because of the incredible care they give to hundreds of children each year from all over the state."

"The transport unit donated by the Delta pilots will help Children's Healthcare of Atlanta save lives," said Glenn Henry, manager of Transport Services at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. "Research has shown that infants and children who are transported by specially trained teams in specially designed pediatric units like the one donated today are several times more likely to survive the trip to the hospital. The Delta pilots' generosity truly supports Children's mission of enhancing the lives of children by allowing our healthcare team to reach young patients all across Georgia."

The Delta pilots made their presentation today at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. In addition to their gift to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, Delta pilots distributed stuffed aviator bears to over 200 children currently at the hospital.

The Fund, supported by individual contributions from members of the Air Line Pilots Association at Delta, supports local charitable activities related to children in select Delta hub cities. The Fund is the first charitable fund established, managed, and funded entirely by the pilots of a major U.S. airline.
