School System workers raise $413,796 for charities The employees of the Fulton County School System have again showed their caring spirit by donating $413,796 to area charities. The contributions were raised during the fall 2001 Fulton School Employees' Charitable Fund campaign. Each year, Fulton employees have the opportunity to participate in the charitable fund, with money dispersed to 20 charities selected by the employees. Donations also may be allocated to an undesignated account. Administered by the Charitable Fund's Board of Directors, the undesignated account primarily is used to assist Fulton families suffering financial crisis due to tragic events. In September, the Board of Directors allocated $20,000 from the undesignated account to be used toward Sept. 11 relief efforts. Habitat for Humanity is another organization included in the list of charities. Last year, Fulton employees funded and built a Habitat for Humanity house in South Fulton. Plans are underway to support a similar building project this year. This year's contributions represent a 13 percent increase over the fall 2000 campaign. Schools and departments with the largest contributions include Chattahoochee, Centennial and Banneker high schools, the Jo Wells Center, South Transportation and Technology Services Department. "We thank all employees for their generous contributions," said fund Chairman Jay Wucher. "We are proud of the work our fund is able to do for so many needy and deserving people."
