The American Legion Post 105 is conducting an oratory contest Saturday Jan. 26.

Post Commander John Dufresne said all pertinent information has been given to Starr's Mill, McIntosh, Fayette and Sandy Creek high schools, as well as Pace Academy and Counterpane Montessori school.

The topic is "The United States Constitution" and students must speak between eight and 10 minutes.

They also have been given four topics on which to write an essay three to five minutes long. The students must be prepared to speak on any one of the four topics, and will not know which one in advance.

Dufresne said that $500 in prize money will be given as well as medals and certificates.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. and will be ended by 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to watch.
