Main Street honors sponsors and volunteers

The Hollingsworth House offered the perfect location for Fayetteville Main Street to host its first annual sponsor/volunteer recognition party.

More than 70 business people attended the festive evening in the elegant and historic home. All sponsors and volunteers received one of Main Street's commemorative Christmas ornaments as a token of appreciation for their involvement in the program. This year's ornament, designed by Main Street board member Patsy Gullett, was a representation of the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House.

Support for Main Street during the past year has been "overwhelming," according to program director Nancy Price. "I believe it is a strong indication of the commitment that local people and businesses have to community, as well as the preservation of our heritage. This year will be an even bigger year as we have some really exciting projects in the works."

On tap for 2002, among other projects, are the completion of Fayetteville's first historic museum and the grand opening of the amphitheater at The Villages at Lafayette Park.

Presenting sponsors for 2001 were Georgia Power and Allan Vigil Southlake Ford. Gold sponsors included Southern Crescent Mortgage, McRae Communications, the Southern Federal Credit Union, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Oliver & Winkle PC, Hertiage Bank, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fayette Daily News and the Citizen newspapers.
