Restaurant Row, part two By
F.C. FOODIE During the holiday season, shoppers from Fayette and Coweta counties jammed the shops and sidewalks of the Avenue shopping center in Peachtree City looking for the perfect gift. Within the next three months, foodies from throughout the region will probably be doing the same as new restaurants start opening. Already open is Thai Spice. The restaurant is a welcome relief from the Mexican restaurant on every corner that has summed up the county's culinary landscape in the last few years. Inside, diners are greeted by friendly servers in a very upscale environment. Low lighting, warm colors and linen tablecloths give the image of an Atlanta restaurant. The food is simply wonderful. The chicken satay is delicious and the peanut sauce is a delight. Entrees include several types of curries, and diners can choose mild, medium or hot. Thai Spice also features adventurous soup choices, along with wonderful desserts. Soon to come in the upscale shopping center is Famous Fish Company. Although I've not received any information on the establishment, it will be wonderful to have a seafood option in the county. The other restaurant scheduled to open in the spring is generating quite a buzz. Ted's Montana Grill is the collaboration of billionaire Ted Turner and George McKerrow, who started Longhorn Steaks. The restaurant will feature several brands of bison burger, since Turner is one of the biggest bison farmers in the country. Turner also says the restaurant will serve comfort food, such as steaks and seafood, and will offer an environment similar to a lodge in Montana. If restaurants like these keep opening, the dining excursions into Atlanta will drop, and Fayette County will get more of Foodie's money.
