Senoia calls a halt to development By JOHN
THOMPSON
Potential developers will have to wait until next May to do any further development in Senoia. That's the verdict after Senoia's City Council imposed a moratorium on all development until the middle of May. Councilman Robert Belisle said the timeframe should give the city's new Planning Commission time to get adjusted and ready to handle the city's future growth. The city already had a moratorium on any development that featured an "open" or green space zoning, but the council decided a total moratorium was in order. The moratorium was passed shortly after the city swore in three Planning Commission members. Norman Hart, Pat Thompson and Lyn Wendt were thanked for volunteering for the posts. Mayor Dianne Cleveland said the city received numerous applications for the positions and was thrilled that so many people wanted to help the new administration. In other news, the council announced the second meeting of the month will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 22. Cleveland explained the meeting was being moved to a Tuesday afternoon because a member from Rural Water Development would be on hand to update the city on its sewer system plans. The city also agreed to spend more than $1,800 to update the software at City Hall. Stuart Bowen of Tailored Business Systems told city officials that more than 3,800 files had been corrupted by viruses and all the minutes of the City Council meetings of the last five years had been wiped out.
