Clayton State joins fast-track program Nearby Clayton College & State University is one of 15 Georgia universities offering a fast track to a teaching job. Colleges of education at the schools are collaborating on a "fast-track" teacher-training program that will offer professionals who have lost jobs in the economic downturn new careers as teachers in Georgia's critically short-handed schools. Education deans representing University System of Georgia campuses statewide met in the state Capitol recently to announce plans for "Georgia Responds: Creating Teaching Opportunities." Participating universities in addition to Clayton State include Albany State University, Armstrong-Atlantic University, Augusta State University, Columbus State University, Fort Valley State University, Georgia College & State University, Georgia Southern University, Georgia Southwestern State University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, North Georgia College & State University, State University of West Georgia, University of Georgia, and Valdosta State University. Approximately 10 percent of the student body at CCSU, in Morrow, come from Fayette County.
