Counselors' first presentation an overwhelming success

The elementary counselors of the Fayette County School System were selected by the Georgia School Counselors Association to give their first conference presentation.

The conference was hosted by GSCA in Athens, Ga. last month.

Sixteen counselors educated nearly 200 of their peers across the state on a variety of classroom guidance lessons that have proven to be successful in Fayette's elementary school classrooms. The theme of the presentation was "Fayette's Favorites" based on lessons that the counselors viewed as their favorite.

Various methods were used in the presentations, including a puppet show, which made the session interesting and interactive for the attendees. The counselors also compiled a 200-page book outlining all of the lessons and presented each audience member with a copy.

"Our counselors were well prepared, enthusiastic and professional. They made the Fayette County School System proud," said Larry Reeves, director of pupil services.

Conference participants who attended the counselors' session gave the presentation rave reviews.

"This one was worth the whole trip. It was one of the best workshops I have ever attended," said one participant. "I think you need to present this one again," another participant commented.

The counselors' presentation was popular before the conference ever began. In fact, the counselors had to turn some people away because of the large attendance projected for the session.
