Fayetteville Police say they can chalk up an assist to the weather in solving an armed robbery Thursday morning at the Flash Foods convenience store on Lanier Avenue.

Officers were able to follow the suspect's footprints in the snow, Lt. Tom Kirkbride said Tuesday.

Michael Jerome Dorsey, 23, of Fayetteville, has been charged with robbing the store just after midnight with a "pipe-like object," according to warrants filed for Dorsey's arrest.

Dorsey, who fled the scene on foot, was found hiding in a brown Dodge Diplomat that was parked at a residence on Hood Avenue, according to the warrants.

Dorsey was charged with one felony count of armed robbery and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing. According to a police report filed on the incident, $120 in cash was recovered.
