Tyrone resident arrested for armed robbery of 3 youths

A Tyrone man has been charged with the early morning armed robbery of three teenage boys near a lake on private property over four months ago.

Andrew Barber, 20, was charged with armed robbery and violating probation when he was arrested Dec. 21. According to Det. Dean Johnson of the Tyrone Police Department, Barber confronted the boys as they left a dock to the lake.

The boys were told to drop to the ground and hand over their wallets, Johnson said. The suspect got away with the wallets and some cash, he added.

The incident occurred Aug. 25 between 5 and 6 a.m., Johnson said.

The case is still under investigation, Johnson said. He confirmed that the youths identified the suspect through a clothing description.
