One of the victims in a two-car crash on Ebenezer Church Road Friday, Dec. 14 has died.

William McCoy, 17, died Wednesday at Egleston Children's Hospital from injuries sustained in the collision, according to officials. He was the passenger in a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by Justin Holloway when it struck another vehicle head-on.

Holloway was ejected from the vehicle. He remained in critical condition Friday, Dec. 21.

According to the accident report filed by the department, Holloway was driving east on Ebenezer Church Road when his truck slid into the westbound lane and struck a 1999 Nissan Maxima head-on. The collision occurred after Holloway's vehicle initially left the road and he attempted to re-enter the road, according to Lt. Bryan Woodie of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

All five occupants of the Maxima, including the driver, were treated and later released from Southern Regional Medical Center. All but one of the passengers were wearing their seatbelts when the collision occurred, according to reports.

As with all serious automobile crashes, a blood sample from both drivers was obtained and will be submitted to the Georgia State Crime Lab for analysis to determine if either of the drivers was under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the crash.
