Christ the King hosts Christmas service

The clergy and members of Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal church will host a Christmas Eve service of Holy Communion Monday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home.

The service will feature traditional Christmas carols, the reading of the Christmas story from the scriptures, and a traditional observance of Holy Communion.

The communion will be "open Communion," said Rev. Canon David Epps, rector of Christ the King. "Anyone who has been baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is welcome to participate and partake."

Epps said that when the church first hosted the service five years ago, they assumed only a few people would attend. "We were surprised when, each year for the last four years, the chapel has been nearly full. We realize that many people, for whatever reason, are without a church home, yet desire to worship somewhere on Christmas. We especially invite those without a church family, as well as those who are struggling with their faith, to spend an hour on Christmas Eve with us."

Carmichael-Hemperley is on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 74 and Old Senoia Rd. in Peachtree City.
