Brooks councilwoman retires By CAROLYN

The town of Brooks and the Association of Fayette County Governments will lose a longtime member, Caroline Smith. She retires from both offices at the end of this month. Smith was born and reared in East Point and attended Clayton State College. She has been married to an air traffic controller, Robert Smith for over 31 years. They are the parents of a married daughter, Sharla Smith Harbin, and a son, Rob. Moving to Brooks in 1986, she was elected to the Town Council in 1988 and has served continuously until 2001. She also has served as town clerk.
