New commercial site being readied south of town

Fayetteville officials are reviewing plans for a new commercial site just south of the Courthouse Square that is nearly ready for construction.

A preliminary plat for a six-lot development on Ga. Highway 85, between the Speedi Pig restaurant and Turnipseed Nursery Farms, is now before the Planning and Zoning Commission. The lots average 1.67 acres apiece.

An access road running parallel to the highway has already been constructed, with two entrances from the highway providing easier flow of traffic than a single entrance, city staff noted. A 65-foot natural buffer remains on the rear of the property, and a 75-foot buffer on the south.

The site could hold up to six individual buildings, but a larger tenant could combine two or more of the lots, said city development and engineering director Don Easterbrook, who added that the site is being geared toward automotive-related uses.
