Christmas verse

By Chris Smith

We've trimmed the tree

and hung the wreath,

Unpacked the Christmas china,

Made some fudge and

wrapped some gifts,

Invited friends to dinner.

All this is done, so early, too!

It's just December first.

Yet still remains this

welcome task:

To pen our Christmas verse.

An urgency compels us since

Events of last September

To hold on tight to those

we love,

To grieve, and to remember

How precious friendship

really is

And how this world

makes sense

Because of our shared faith

and hope

And shared experience.

Together we can

make our world

A better place to be,

As each one helps the other one,

Building community.

Treasure this special Christmas,

With joyful hope renewed.

We wish you many blessings

And peace in 2-0-0-2.
