'Care wall' at Burch shows student concern for Afghan children

Students at Robert J. Burch Elementary School recently demonstrated their concern for the children in Afghanistan.

In response to President George W. Bush's pleas for the children in the United States to each send $1 to be used for food and medical supplies, the students at Burch collected $300 for the Afghanistan Children's Fund.

When students brought in their dollars, hearts with their teachers' names were placed on a wall in the school called the "care wall." Students worked to earn the dollars they donated.

Hearts were first in clusters representing individual classrooms, but soon they covered the wall as a representation of the whole school working together.
