Jingle Bell Trail coming

Walkers and runners can test their physical endurance while getting into the holiday spirit and helping students at Peachtree City Elementary School during the school's fifth annual Jingle Bell Trail.

About 1,000 people are expected to participate in the 5K run and one-mile fun walk Dec. 8 starting at 9 a.m. The race will begin in front of Peachtree City Elementary School and will wind its way to Riley Parkway and then back to the school. The race course is USA Track & Field-certified.

Registrations are currently being accepted. The registration fee is $13 if participants sign up before Nov. 26; after that, the fee increases to $20. Registrations will be taken on race day. Participants will receive long sleeve cotton t-shirts to commemorate the event as well as a set of jingle bells for their shoes. Prizes will be given to the top three male and female winners in each age group: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 50-59, 60-64-65-69, 70 and above.

Proceeds from Jingle Bell Trail will be used by the school's technology committee for the purchase of computer equipment and software.

Registration forms can be picked up at the school as well as the Peachtree City Fire Department, Fayette Community Hospital and different grocery stores in Peachtree City.
