Neurology practice open in Fayette

Dr. Virendra Ranadive has begun a solo practice in Fayette County specializing in neurology, with interests in stroke, neuromuscular diseases and epilepsy.

He completed his training in neurology and fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Emory University in Atlanta, starting an internship there in 1996. and serving as chief resident from July 1999 to June 2000. He was board certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in May 2001. His interest in neurology began in 1988 as a resident in internal medicine in India.

After deciding to remain in the metro Atlanta area as a solo neurologist, he conducted a population-vs.-need study of the area. He and his wife decided to locate his practice in Fayette County because of its "great and growing hospital, warm and friendly people and excellent living commodities for raising our children."

In keeping with advances in technology and neuroscience, Dr. Ranadive is working to eventually establish a "stroke program" or "brain attack" program for the community with the help of his colleagues. A six-month fellowship study of epilepsy allowed him to learn some very advanced techniques in diagnosis and treatment of seizures, including long-term video monitoring.

His office is open weekdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 1250 Ga. Highway 54 West, Suite 201, in Fayetteville, across from Fayette Community Hospital in the old Emory Clinic.
