Local health screenings tomorrow

Fayette Chiropractic Center is offering low-cost health screenings this week at its New Hope Road location.

Skin cancer screening

Dermoscopic imaging is a relatively new screening evaluation procedure used in dermatology. Today, it's regarded as a meaningful addition to diagnostic evaluations and clinical trials.

Using a powerful video microscope and electronic imaging system, moles and other skin lesions can be viewed with much more precision, clarity and distinction than with the naked eye. Asymmetry, borders, color, size and elevation of moles can be inspected in greater detail, allowing you to bring any suspicious-looking mole, skin lesion or other skin-related problem to the attention of your dermatologist or personal physician for a diagnosis and medical treatment much sooner.

UV skin damage

You've been told what the sun is doing to your skin. Now, with the UV Scanner, you can actually take a look under the skin for an eye-opening view of the real skin you're in.

The UV Scanner reveals damage you never knew was there. It shows the amount of sun damage, or photo aging (premature aging) of the skin which has occurred in addition to revealing who's at a higher risk for skin cancer. The UV Scanner shows the signs of overexposure to the sun by revealing skin pigment abnormalities that are invisible to the naked eye. During the screening you get a rare look at the cumulative damage the sun has done to your skin.

Every moment you've spent in the sun has left a permanent mark. The UV Scanner gives you visible proof that the sun is affecting your skin, and what the future holds if you continue to expose your unprotected skin to the damaging rays of the sun.

UV eye damage

Inside your eyes is a pigment called melanin. It's the same pigment that gives your skin and hair its color. Melanin provides powerful protection to the lens of the eye against UV light damage.

Normal aging and overexposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays decrease melanin production, which in turn increases the risk of both cataract formation and macular degeneration. With this screening the amount of UV damage your eyes have suffered can be assessed and you can easily see if cataracts are being formed on the lens of your eyes.

These three important screenings are available Nov. 30 for one price of $5. Fayette Chiropractic Center is at Ga. Highway 85 north and New Hope Road. Call 770-461-2225 for more information.
