Budget hearing is Monday

Residents wanting to know how Senoia will spend its tax money should plan to attend Monday's public hearing.

Starting at 6 p.m., the City Council will conduct a public hearing on this year's budget. New mayor-elect Dianne Cleveland said she was sort of stunned when Mayor Joan Trammell dropped it in the council's lap last week.

"(Councilman) Bill Wood is looking over everything right now, but I don't know why somebody who still lives in this town would want to do this," she said.

Cleveland was referring to Trammell's comments at last week's council meeting that the council would have to do this year's budget which is due Dec.31.

"She is still the mayor until Dec.31," Cleveland said.

The mayor-elect also wants to put an end to rumors the new administration will not support extending the sewer project to the rest of the city.

"Nobody ever said we wanted to stop the sewer project. Why would we do that? We already have the money in hand," she said.
