PTC Development Authority may employ executive director, amphitheater director

With 39 employees under its belt, the Peachtree City Development Authority is considering the concept of hiring an executive director to handle its day-to-day operations.

Development Authority member Scott Bradshaw said such a position would involve overseeing the city's amphitheater and tennis center in addition to the authority's economic development duties. The authority met in executive session during a special called meeting Monday night to discuss filling the vacant amphitheater director's position and came up with this scenario, Bradshaw said.

The authority expects to make a decision on the matter at its regular meeting Monday night at 6 p.m. in the city library.

Hiring an executive director could save money by combining the budgetary process for both the amphitheater and tennis center, Bradshaw said. More money could be saved by promoting personnel from within who are currently with the authority, he added.

If an executive director is hired, the authority would likely still have a separate administrator overseeing the amphitheater, Bradshaw said.

Tom Farr, chairman of the Development Authority, has been meeting with staff at the amphitheater and tennis center this week to explore the possibilities of hiring an executive director for the authority, Bradshaw said.
