Sports items, vacation trips up for grabs at silent auction benefit Saturday in PTC

A silent auction and fashion show to benefit the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence will be held Saturday at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center at 10:30 a.m.

The auction features a variety of items, from sports memorabilia to gift certificates and passes to Atlanta area attractions.

That includes autographed baseballs from home run king Hank Aaron and other current and former Braves. Also up for grabs is a weekend trip to Panama City, Fla., and a weekend canoe trip.

The silent auction will be followed by the fashion show luncheon. Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $30; for more information call 770-631-4615.

The event is the largest benefit for the council, which serves victims of domestic violence and their families who are in need of legal assitance, housing, food, clothing and other emergency care. The council, which also serves citizens from Spalding, Upson, Rockdale and Coweta counties, served 373 victims last year.

For the past two years, the council's budget has been exceeded by approximately $33,000.
