A car dealership in Union City is giving new meaning to the term upscale.

Barton Chrysler-Jeep of Union City moved into its new digs at 4200 Jonesboro Road about three months ago, and owner Bart Barton said the reviews have been spectacular.

"This is the prototype for the new Chrysler dealership, and people really like it," he said.

The building features an open space design that allows a lot of light to flow into the structure. Dark wood accents and the use of glass block in a customer cafe give the building the feel of an upscale shopping experience.

Barton had operated his dealership just down the road for many years, but outgrew the facility. The new facility is 15 acres and offers plenty of room for expansion.

The friendly owner has been in the car business for nearly 20 years and moved to the Atlanta area from Minnesota.

"Forty below gets to you after a while," he said, with a chuckle.

While he was working in Minnesota, he heard that a dealership was available in Union City, but he had to make a decision on buying it in 24 hours.

"I literally bought the dealership sight unseen," he said.

Although Barton grew up in Michigan, he attended Florida State University and was eager to get back to a warmer climate.

After spending years at various dealerships, Barton knew exactly what he wanted when he got the chance to build his own dealership from scratch.

One of the unique aspects of the building is the focus of the service department. Customers can drive right up to the department and leave their cars. The service center features an eye-popping 47 service bays and a walkway down the middle of the service center for customers to observe any work that occurs on their vehicles.

With the holidays approaching, Barton said it's the perfect time to explore his dealership and get a good deal on a holiday gift.

Chrysler is still offering 0 percent interest on new cars through Nov. 19 and Barton is willing to work with customers to find the exact ride they need.

Whether it's a sleek Chrysler Sebring or the full-load capacity of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Barton has a huge variety of choices for the consumer.

"Now is really one of the best times to buy," he said.
