Billy Graham's daughter By DR. KNOX HERNDON When I see good things in writing, I want to pass them on. This is worth reading and is so true. I received this from Christian friends Linda and Ernie Isbell, whom we served with in Korea from 1984-1986. It is in reference to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on America. Bryant Gumbel recently interviewed Billy Graham's daughter. Gumbel: "Why didn't God stop this or do something about this?" Billy Graham's daughter: "For years we have told God we didn't want Him in our schools. We didn't want Him in our government and we didn't want Him in our finances and God was being a perfect gentleman in doing just what we asked Him to do. We need to make up our mind - do we want God or do we not want Him. We cannot just ask Him in when disaster strikes." Bryant Gumbel was silent. "...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14. For years I have heard that scripture and for years I wrongly turned it around in my mind to mean, "if all the non-believers, and God haters, and trouble makers, and wrong doers, will turn form THEIR wicked ways, then will God straighten things out! One day it hit me like a spiritual brick (hopefully the soft side of the brick), that it is NOT up to the Bin Ladens of life to finally mend their wicked ways and get converted, and quit causing trouble, and go straight; it is up to us,the believers, to mend our wicked ways. Then God will work and heal our land. Remember in the movie and play "Fiddler on The Roof" when the father is praying and he says," God we know we are your chosen people, but couldn't you have chosen someone else?" We laugh but those who are the remnant and are true believers carry the burden to do right and be right and keep the faith. The rewards however are great- sometimes in this life and sometimes in the next! Don't ever be a part of the American media scene in American life that goes against God in our public life. I realize we need to be sensitive to others and their faith and as Christians be tolerant, however, we can't throw the baby out with the bath water either. Ann Graham Lotz was right. If our main goal is to be "politically correct," our goals will continue to change and not always for the better. Remember being politically correct in Germany in 1936-1945 ? I rest my case. Invite God back into your life , while He still can be found! Dr. Knox Herndon is the pastor of His House Community Church (SBC), located on Ga. Highway 85 south of Senoia. Go one mile past Ga. Highway 16 and the church is on the right, just past the fire station. Visitors are welcome. Church office and Prayer line number is 770-719-2365. E-mail address is KHERN2365@aol.com.
