Fulton offers seniors a low-cost Thanksgiving

Senior citizens can get a low-cost Thanksgiving meal during special luncheons at Fulton County's north, central and south senior activity facilities in November.

The luncheons celebrate the holiday "with all the trimmings" and illustrate the nutrition program conducted throughout the year by the Fulton County Human Services Department's Office of Aging. For many seniors, this is their only chance to get a healthy holiday meal.

The Thanksgiving lunch costs $3,and will be noon to 1:30 p.m., at the following locations:

Nov. 14 - H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility, 2885 Church St., East Point. Call 404-762-4821.

Nov.15 - Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility, 677 Fairburn Road, NW, Atlanta. Food baskets collected by participants at the facility will be given to needy families. Call 404-699-8580.

Nov. 20 - Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, 6500 Vernon Woods Drive, Sandy Springs. Call 404-705-4900.

Large numbers of Fulton County's more than 90,000 seniors show up daily at each site to enjoy low-cost breakfasts and lunches, and participate in a variety of activities and services that benefit them physically, mentally and socially.

The county also delivers meals to the homes of seniors who cannot travel.
