PTC Development Authority to discuss search for new amphitheater director

Maintaining the quality of the summer concert series at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater is a top priority for the Peachtree City Development Authority, which will consider how to hire a new amphitheater director at its next meeting.

The authority will convene a special called meeting Monday night at 6 p.m. at the Peachtree City Library to discuss "evaluation of personnel," according to authority chairman Tom Farr. A vote on the issue is not expected to take place, though the authority's regular meeting is the following Monday and a vote could be recorded then, Farr pointed out.

The called meeting opens the door for the authority to consider hiring a current employee of the amphitheater to replace outgoing director Kristi Rapson, although the authority could decide to advertise the position in a broader search for a new director.

"We will talk about replacing Kristi," Farr confirmed.

Farr said the authority will likely go into executive session to discuss the matter, as allowed by Georgia law for the evaluation of employees. The authority's attorney, Mark Oldenburg, has already approved that action, Farr said.

The main priority in selecting a candidate is making sure the quality level that the summer concert series has reached under Rapson's direction will be maintained, Farr said. News articles about her resignation have drawn a significant amount of interest in the position, Farr said.
