Clint Robinson wants the students at S.L. Lewis Elementary School to look at art as something you live with every day.

Robinson, an art teacher at the school, started an enormous mural project last spring to show students how functional art can be in everyday life.

So far, two of Robinson's murals are at the front of the school and he is in the process of painting all the walls in the media center with colorful murals.

Robinson lives in Peachtree City and started the project last spring after starting work at the school.

"It's just wonderful. The kids love it and have helped him," said media clerk Sandra Harris.

The theme is Book City, with authentic street signs like Reading Road and Storytime Street.

Robinson also has painted the walls with book covers and familiar Atlanta landmarks such as the Georgia Dome and the Hyatt Hotel downtown.

After the project is completed, the school will host an art show to celebrate exceptional students during Exceptional Children's Week in April 2002.

Harris said the program is helping children enjoy art, and realize how much work goes into a project.
