Opening Today

K-Pax Kevin Spacey goes for another Oscar with his performance as an alien from Planet K-Pax. I knew a guy from Planet K-Tel, he sang the best hit songs of the 60s and 70s. Rated PG-13.

Thirteen Ghosts The makers of "House on Haunted Hill" are out to scare you again with this film about, you guessed it, 13 ghosts. Rated R.

Now Playing

Bandits Billy Bob Thornton and Bruce Willis star in this film about bank robbers that sleep over at the house of the bank manager the night before the robbery. Directed by Barry Levinson, this movie should be a winner. Rated PG-13.

Corky Romano Saturday Night Live's Chris Kataan stars as a perky veterinarian that must go undercover in the FBI to save his family of criminals. It looks funny but, like so many SNL movies, looks can be deceiving. Rated PG-13.

Don't Say A Word This is the film starring Michael Douglas with the creepy preview. He plays a psychiatrist whose child is kidnapped and he must use a patient to help get her back. Rated R.

From Hell Johnny Depp stars in this film about Jack the Ripper. The film is based on a poular graphic novel and also stars Heather Graham. The Hughes Brothers (Menace II Society) were at the helm of this picture. Rated R.

Hardball Keanu Reeves plays a man who coaches a Little League baseball team in the inner city. This is based on a true story. Rated R.

Hearts In Atlantis Based on one of the stories from Stephen King's book, this film focuses on an old man with mysterious powers, played by Anthony Hopkins, befriending a young boy. A sweet story, though with dark implications in other King novels, this film could be an early Oscar contender. Rated PG-13.

Iron Monkey A martial arts film about a hero saving a village. It takes a monkey to save a village, people ... an iron monkey. Rated PG-13.

Jeepers Creepers A horror movie about a brother and sister returning home on break from college. They find a scary creature in the basement of a church and bad things happen. I'd like this to be good, but I am not holding my breath. Rated R.

Joy Ride Two guys play with a CB radio and inadvertently anger a killer and get him on their tail. The previews look suspenseful and Steve Zahn, one of the guys, is always good for comic relief. Rated R.

Max Keeble's Big Move A Disney live action film focusing on a junior high student and his comic misadventures. There should be lots of laughs for the preteen crowd. Rated PG.

Princess Diaries A girl goes from dork to princess in this film by the director of Pretty Woman. Julie Andrews stars as the girl's royal grandmother. This is very popular with families. Rated G.

Riding In Cars With Boys Drew Barrymore plays a girl who gets pregnant too young and the film follows her life. This is directed by Penny Marshall and also stars James Woods, Lorraine Bracco and Steve Zahn. Rated PG-13.

Rush Hour 2: The fastest hands in the East team up again with the biggest mouth in the West when legendary martial arts daredevil Jackie Chan teams with comedic powerhouse Chris Tucker. Should be fun. Rated PG-13.

Serendipity A romantic comedy starring John Cusack, who is best known for great romantic comedies, and Kate Beckinsdale. This looks very sweet, though the ending is fairly predictable. At least, it seems that it would be very predictable. This is probably your best bet for a date movie. Rated PG-13.

The Glass House Leelee Sobieski stars in this film about a girl who must go live with her guardians after her parents' death. This looks kind of suspenseful but might be very bad. Rated PG-13.

The Last Castle Robert Redford and James Gandolfini butt heads in this action-thriller set in a military prison. Mark Ruffalo alo stars in this film about leadership and revolution. Rated R.

The Others A thriller set in England during World War II. This film stars Nicole Kidman and a slew of ghosts. The word on the street is that this is a creepy film. Rated PG-13.

Training Day Denzel Washington in his first role as a villain. He plays a Los Angeles policeman who is training Ethan Hawke, a rookie, on how to be a cop in L.A. This looks pretty good. Rated R.

Two Can Play That Game This comedy is about a woman setting her man straight after she catches him stepping out with her arch enemy. Vivica A. Fox and Morris Chestnutt star. Rated R.

Zoolander A silly film starring Ben Stiller as Derek Zoolander, a male model who will save the world. I giggled through much of the movie. It is silly fun. Rated PG-13.

Also Playing

American Pie 2 The sequel to the popular comedy. This film is set after freshman year of college and the kids are just as crazy as ever. Rated R.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire Perhaps it should have been called Disney: the Lost Empire. This movie bombed at the box office and did not look like classic Disney fare. Rated PG.

Cats and Dogs A comedy for the kids. This has some very funny scenes and some cute moments, but it did not live up to my expectations. I was expecting a film that was fun for both kids and adults and was disappointed. Your kids won't be. Rated PG.

Curse of the Jade Scorpion Woody Allen and Helen Hunt play a hypnotized pair that is committing crimes unknowingly. If you are a fan of the Wood-man, this is a film for you. Rated PG-13.

Dr. Doolittle 2 Eddie Murphy returns as the doctor who can talk to the animals. This one is about animals in the wilderness and his daughter growing up. The animals are all voiced by big time comedians and they are just so darned cute. Rated PG.

Jurassic Park III Dr. Grant gets called back to the island of dinosaurs and tries to stay out of trouble. Lots of good effects and dinosaurs. Rated PG-13.

Legally Blonde Reese Withersppon goes to Harvard law to win back her man. This looked like a nice way to escape the summer heat. Unfortunately, it is not hot anymore. Rated PG-13.

The Musketeer The story of D'Artagnan with lost of Hong kong action thrown in for the kids. Rated PG-13.

Pearl Harbor Loved by some, hated by many, this three hour film focuses on a love story set during World War II for much of the film. The battle scenes look fantastic, but it takes a long time to get there. Rated PG-13.

Shrek A computer generated dynamo about an ogre who rescues a princess. There are lots of in-jokes about Disney and the animation is excellent, though a little empty. A fun movie for the kids and entertaining for the parents. This film is also being shown in Spanish. Rated PG.

The Score Deniro, Brando, Norton. A film about criminals and cons. This looked good but didn't last long. Rated R.
