Senoia candidates forum is next week By JOHN
THOMPSON
Another packed house is expected for next week's political forum in Senoia. The event is set for the Freeman Sasser Building in the city's park at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Senoia Area Business Association. Local newspaper editor Tray Baggarly will moderate the forum. The forum gives city residents a final look at the candidates before the city elections Nov. 6. Candidates appeared earlier this month at the Senoia Senior Center to field questions from residents. In the last two months, the city has garnered regional headlines for everything from taping of phone calls to not having enough council members to hold a meeting. In the race for mayor, Pam Youngblood is stressing her experience in city government, including her positions on the City Council and the Planning Commission. She favors managing the growth and working together. The other candidate, Dianne Cleveland, also said she favors controlled growth and is adamantly opposed to quarter-acre lots. Cleveland also addressed Youngblood's call for her to resign last month over taping phone conversations and said the city should not be pulled apart, which is why she chose to run for mayor. The City Council race is more crowded with nine candidates seeking the four spots. Residents will choose two candidates from Robert Hannah, Pat Tunnell, Ed Roberts and Arlevia Gates to fill the positions of incumbent Hannah and Cleveland's positions. In the race to replace Councilman Darren Ratajski, who resigned in September, voters will choose between Kenneth Davis and Robert Belisle. The final council position is the race for Pam Youngblood's council seat. Youngblood resigned when she decided to run for mayor. The three candidates are former mayor Lester Mann, Bill Wood and Ernie Jackson, Jr.
