Lakly: My experience will help solve problems

I have offered for mayor of Peachtree City for some of the following reasons.

I want to preserve and protect the investment my wife, Donna Lee, and I made in July of 1978. As a resident for more than 23 years, I have a strong grasp of our history, where we have been and where we are going. Together, we raised our three sons, and took advantage of the numerous amenities that Peachtree City offers to families and retired citizens, particularly the outstanding public safety provided by the police, fire and EMS services.

Our boys graduated from McIntosh High School and they all actively participated in our city and public school programs. Simply put, I want all residents, present and future, to enjoy our unique Peachtree City lifestyle.

I believe my previous experience in public office (Peachtree City Council, Fayette County Commission, and the Georgia House of Representatives) will serve the citizens of Peachtree City very well. I will work closely with federal, state, and county agencies to insure that Peachtree City receives its fair share of revenue, grants, and low cost loans for the wastewater treatment improvement project as well as other worthwhile public improvement projects.

While it is true Peachtree City has followed the master plan, it is fortunately at a far lower density than the original plan that called for a build-out population of 85,000. Unfortunately, the west side of our city has not received the same attention, care, and consideration that many of us have grown to expect from a planned community. This issue is far from being resolved. Potential annexation hangs over our heads, our schools are becoming increasingly crowded, and the traffic only gets worse.

My experience, knowledge, and ability to work with people, as well as my commitment to serving all of our citizens, will enable us to resolve these critical issues facing our community.
