Last chance for tickets to NAACP banquet

A few tickets are still available for the fourth annual NAACP fund-raising Freedom Fund Banquet, organizers said.

The annual gala, set for Oct. 27 at the Wyndham Hotel in Peachtree City, celebrates freedom and funds the NAACP's programs. It will feature a keynote address by William F. Pickard, Ph.D., a successful businessman in the metropolitan Detroit area for more than 20 years and currently chairman and chief executive officer of the Global Automotive Alliance.

Sales in 2000 for the firm were approximately $250 million, with two plants in Oklahoma, one in Georgia, one in Canada and four in Michigan, employing about 2,000 people.

Radio state WJZZ on-air personality Mitch Falkner will be master of ceremonies for the affair.

Peachtree City Mayor Bob Lenox and other guests will be honored for outstanding community service.

A social hour, dinner, the speaker's address, entertainment, the awards ceremony and dancing will be included in the event.

For ticket information, phone 770-460-9934.
