Items sought for silent auction benefiting family violence program

The Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence is seeking items for its annual silent auction benefit, which will be held in conjunction with a fashion show at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center Saturday, Nov. 17.

The event is the main fundraiser for the council, which helped 373 victims and their children last year with legal assistance, housing, food, clothing and other emergency care. The nonprofit organization assists victims in Fayette, Spalding, Upson, Clayton, Rockdale and Coweta counties.

The council also provides 24-hour emergency services, comprehensive crisis counseling, a transitional housing program and high school teen violence education classes.

For the past two years, the cost of these services has exceeded the council's budget by $33,000.

Contributors donating $300 or more will be recognized at the benefactor's reception which will be held Friday, Nov. 16. Those contributors will also be recognized in the program distributed during the fashion show and auction.

To arrange the donation of an item for the auction, call 770-631-4615.
