Local memorial for NYC firefighter

Peachtree City officials have scheduled a memorial service for a fallen New York City firefighter with a local connection.

Services for Michael Boyle of Engine 33 will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 101 Walt Banks Road, with the Rev. Kevin Peek officiating. The Peachtree City Fire Department will provide Fire Department Honors, including a bugler, bagpipes, bell ceremony, presentation of the flag, and crossed aerials.

Boyle, whose sister is a local resident, died Sept. 11 at the World Trade Center. This is the first service in his honor, and his sister, parents and fiance will attend.

"The department is honored to be able to participate in this service and to help demonstrate to Michael's family the honor in which we hold him and the others who lost their lives while working to keep the public safe during the Sept. 11 atrocities," said Peachtree City Fire Chief Stony Lohr.

A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service at Peachtree City Fire Station 81, at 110 Paschall Road, Peachtree City.
