A routine examination of campaign disclosure forms filed with Peachtree City indicates that Post 3 City Council candidate Steve Rapson has received the most contributions, $3,875.

The forms, which are public record, also revealed that mayoral candidate Steve Brown isn't far behind Rapson, having raised a total of $3,461.38 by the end of the latest reporting period.

Candidates are required to file the reports by law and list individual contributions over $101.

Nancy Faulkner, Rapson's only competition for the Post 3 seat, has raised $1,536, although her report indicates all the funds came from herself. Rapson reported two contributions of the maximum $1,000: one from Hollis and Joyce Harris (Hollis Harris is the president of World Airways) and one from Jim and Chris Messer, who are affiliated with Wieland Financial, according to the report.

Post 4 Council candidate Alison Chambers had raised $1,271 for her campaign, including a $500 contribution from retiree Ada B. Hewell.

Of Brown's total, $1,036 is from a personal loan from himself while $250 is from Cynthia and Corwin Freeman of Elgin, Ill., who are listed as being affiliated with an insurance company.

Post 4 Council candidate Murray Weed reported a total of $449 in contributions, including $249 from Steven M. Fincher, an attorney and $200 from the law firm of Sanders, Hangen, Sears and Meeker.

Mayoral candidate Gary Rower reported that he had raised $400, although none of those contributions were over the $101 reporting mark.

Candidates reporting they had received no contributions by the end of the reporting period on Sept. 30 were: Mayoral candidate Dan Lakly, Post 4 Council candidate Carol Fritz and Post 4 Council candidate Gerald Ostrowski.

The candidates will be required to update their contribution forms once more before the election, on Thursday, Oct. 25. The forms also require that candidates list their expenditures for the campaign.
