Bullard announces Treadway merger

Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty, the largest Coldwell Banker franchise in Georgia, now has a seventh office as the result of a merger with the real estate division of Treadway Realty & Building of Griffin.

Under terms of the merger, Treadway's real estate operations will become the Griffin/Spalding County office of Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty, while the partners in Treadway, Stan Treadway and Chip Davis, will continue in the building business under the name Treadway Building. Coldwell Banker Bullard will market the homes built by Treadway Building, including the final homes in the South Worth Community in Griffin.

The two companies will share space in the building at 122 South 13th St. in Griffin, with Coldwell Banker Bullard in Suite A and Treadway Building in Suite B. The telephone number for both companies will be 770-227-2280.

Steve Bullard, owner and president of Coldwell Banker Bullard, said the goal is for the office to grow to 15 agents by a year from now.

"We've been interested in coming to Griffin and Spalding County for several years," said Bullard. "We're excited about the opportunity to be more active here and to offer our company's services to the homebuyers and homesellers in this area."

The managing broker of Coldwell Banker Bullard's Clayton County office in Jonesboro, Theda Bunker, will also serve as broker for the Griffin/Spalding County office. She will be joined initially by Jenifer Strauss and Kelley O'Kelley, who have been the sales associates for Treadway Realty.

Theda Bunker came to Georgia in 1992 with her husband Earl who was with NSA at Ft. McPherson. She joined the Bullard organization in 1993 and has been managing broker for the Clayton County office since 1997. Mrs. Bunker started in real estate in 1984 while in Maryland and managed a family-owned company in Baltimore.

Jenifer Strauss began working with Treadway five years ago and has been in real estate for four years, while Kelley O'Kelley joined Treadway three years ago and got into real estate earlier this year.

Treadway was founded as Wes Treadway Realty in 1969 by Wes Treadway Sr., Stan Treadway's father. The company also got into building a couple of years later.

The current president, Stan Treadway, grew up in the building and real estate industry and joined the company on a fulltime basis five years ago. His partner, Chip Davis, came on board at the same time. The company has been involved in both residential and commercial building in Spalding, Butts, Pike, Henry and Fayette counties.

The oldest and largest real estate company headquartered in the Metro South area of Atlanta, Coldwell Banker Bullard has other offices in Jonesboro, Riverdale, McDonough, Jackson, Peachtree City and Newnan with a total of approximately 260 agents. The company, founded in 1956, worked out a franchise agreement with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation early in 1998.

Coldwell Banker Bullard is the principal Cendant Mobility broker for the Metro South Atlanta area and has the largest relocation department on the Southside. In addition, the company has a Real Estate Owned (foreclosure) Department; Cendant Mortgage representatives in two offices and phone-in, call-in services in the other offices; a Property Management Company; a Builder Services Division; a Marketing Department; Bullard College for continuing education; and an administrative and clerical staff of 30 people to support agents.\
