Wednesday, October 10, 2001 Celebrating 20 years of building 'lifestyles' Local home builder Bob Adams Homes is celebrating 20 years in the industry this year. The company began in 1981 with a very unique product and approach quickly became immensely popular and has carried the company forward. This 'lifestyle' product, specifically designed for the then 'senior' buyer, consisted mainly of smaller lots, low thresholds, low-maintenance exteriors and an impressive lawn maintenance program, including mowing, edging, fertilizing and gutter cleaning. The product itself has not changed dramatically over the years and has survived the test of time by continuing to deliver simple elegance matched with low maintenance. More importantly, it has enabled Bob Adams Homes to lead the senior market on Atlanta's south side. The company's first venture, Christian Corners in Union City, was a tremendous success because the community was designed specifically for and met the very special needs of its aging customers. From Union City, Bob Adams Homes began building in Peachtree City, despite misgivings from many on whether or not there was adequate demand to support this particular product. The company's first communities in Peachtree City were finished with record sell-outs and a very positive expansion into the rest of Fayette and Coweta counties soon followed. Bob Adams Homes has quite a history, a very impressive resume, and has certainly played a very positive role in shaping arguably the most popular planned community, perhaps in the entire country, but certainly in the Southeast. Peachtree City residents are very familiar with the Bob Adams Homes product as more than half a dozen complete communities within Peachtree City bear the company's name. The Fairways, Master's Square, Village on The Green, Central Park, St. Simonís Cove, Village Park and the most recent, Lexington Park, are all built out of this very popular product that no longer draws just the senior and empty nester, but anyone who wants elegance and location without high maintenance worries. Since opening its doors, Bob Adams Homes has offered several new home series with features and options that have reflected market demands, but the overall appeal of these homes has remained the same and has become synonymous with the name Bob Adams Homes low maintenance. This product and approach has been so successful that the company has recently expanded even further, into Henry and Douglas counties, to meet the growing demand in those areas. Current reports concerning the aging population have revealed very dramatic numbers supporting the growing demand for this product all over the Atlanta area. In fact, its been reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Builder Magazine and The Atlanta Regional Commission that by the year 2030, the number of people over age 65 will reach 70 million, or 20 percent of the population. That's more than double the 1990 count, and there are many who believe these figures to be even higher. These statistics are certainly very good news for Bob Adams Homes and suggest that for this company that has established themselves as specialists in this market, the best is yet to come.
