Deadline is Oct. 19 for Master Gardener classes

Friday, Oct. 19 is the deadline for applications to become a Master Gardener.

Classes will be offered at the Clayton County Commissioners Conference Center Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 - 5 p.m., Jan. 7 through March 20.

A $100 fee is charged for notebook and other supplies. A limited number of scholarships are available on a financial need basis.

To be certified as a Master Gardener, 50 hours of volunteer service to the Extension Service is required. You must be a resident of Fayette County to enroll.

Topics to be covered include landscape design, annuals, perennials, trees, ornamental shrubs, fruit and vegetable gardening, pest identification and control, plant physiology, entomology and pathology, lawn care and more.
