Planter dispute causing heartburn By JOHN
THOMPSON
Will Senoia ever see new brick planters on Main Street? The issue became clouded again Tuesday morning when County Commissioner Vernon "Mutt" Hunter told his fellow commissioners that the city doesn't need the county's help installing the planters. Two weeks ago, Hunter had instructed the county staff to work with Jimmy Hutchinson of the city's Downtown Development Authority to install the planters. The county labor for doing the project is estimated at between $10,000 and $12,000. But Hunter learned from County Administrator Theron Gay that Senoia City Administrator Leonard Thompson said the city does not need the county's help. Hunter asked Gay to secure an official response from the city. The county has been using its labor to finish such major projects as the new fairground and was ready to send a crew to Senoia last week. "Coweta County has not refused to help them," Hunter said. The latest skirmish has created more tension in an already tenuous relationship. During a political forum Wednesday in Senoia, Hunter said he looks forward to the day when he can work with just one person in Senoia, instead of dealing with various political factions that have emerged in the last two years.
