Fayetteville, Fayette set Stars and Stripes Rally

Grammy award-winning group Shenandoah will highlight a free patriotic rally jointly sponsored by the city of Fayetteville and Fayette County Saturday, Oct. 6.

Fayetteville Mayor Kenneth Steele and County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn will act as emcees for the Stars and Stripes Rally at Heritage Park, starting at 7 p.m.

"We will salute our firefighters, police men and women and also veterans," said Nancy Price, director of Main Street Fayetteville.

The Rev. Dr. Sam Mathews of Fayetteville United Methodist Church will give the invocation.

The city and county also have purchased several thousand candles in hopes of a tremendous show of support from the community, said Price.

Immediately following at 8 p.m. Shenandoah will perform.
