The board of trustees of Atlanta Medical Center named William Moore as chief executive officer and president of Atlanta Medical Center.

Also, Andrea Wozniak was named Atlanta Medical Center's chief operating officer.

Moore assumed his new position at Atlanta Medical Center Sept. 7. Most recently, he was chief executive officer and president of South Fulton Medical Center, which, like AMC, is owned by Tenet HealthSystem.

Moore joined South Fulton Medical Center after serving as president of RT Acquisition Company, an operator of freestanding radiation therapy centers.

From 1996 to 1998, he served as vice president, operations for Phy Matrix Corporation, a publicly traded physician practice management company.

Moore's previous hospital management experience includes serving as chief executive officer from 1992 to 1996 at Tenet's Lutheran Medical Center, a 406-bed, full-service hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Prior to that, he was chief executive officer at Dunwoody Medical Center from 1987 to 1991.

"Bill brings both breadth and depth in hospital management to Atlanta Medical Center," said Gregory H. Burfitt, vice president, operations of Tenet's Southern States Region.

"Bill has successfully led South Fulton Medical Center since it became a part of Tenet in April. We look forward to Bill's continued leadership and to having him at the helm of one of Atlanta's cornerstone medical institutions."

Andrea Wozniak comes to AMC after spending the past nine years at Tenet's Hilton Head Medical Center in South Carolina, seven years of which Wozniak served as the hospital's chief operating officer.

Prior to her Hilton Head Medical Center experience, Wozniak served as the vice president, patient care services at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, N.M.

From 1982 to 1990, Wozniak was the senior vice president, operations for Orlando General Hospital in Florida.

"Andrea brings a wealth of health care experience to AMC," said Burfitt.

"Andrea has gained valuable knowledge through working in administrative and nursing positions for 36 years. She has been at the patient's bedside and thoroughly understands what it takes to deliver high quality care to the individuals we are blessed to serve," added Burfitt.

Atlanta Medical Center, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is a 467-bed tertiary facility that spans two city blocks in downtown Atlanta.

Atlanta Medical Center's services include a 30-bed level three neonatal intensive care unit, a level two trauma center, the Atlanta Cancer Center, Sheffield HealthCare a neighborhood community health center, the Atlanta Rehabilitation Center, three medical office buildings, the Wellness Center which provides a multidisciplinary approach to health and wellness and houses the Highland Athletic Club, Atlanta Pain Center, Occupational Medicine, Outpatient Rehabilitation and an outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program; the Graduate Medical Education Program, and areas that provide care in advanced surgery, cardiology, oncology, neurology, women's health, orthopedics and trauma.
