Parent involvement taking off at PACE
PACE Christian School is experiencing an upsurge in parental involvement, according to a spokesman. "We have never seen such an outpouring of parents who were actually willing to get involved and take ownership in the philosophy behind PACE," said a member of the Parent Involvement Committee. PACE is an acronym for "Parents Advancing Christian Education." Parents this year are helping as classroom aids, doing office work, custodial work, helping in the cafeteria and even landscaping, the spokesman said. One parent who works with computers donated a morning to go through the school's computers and separate the ones that work and those that don't. Parents can assist the school through a large variety of choices, choosing tasks that mask their skills, the spokesman said. Those that can't volunteer during normal hours are able to help out on weekends.
