Local man dies after car crash

A Fayetteville man has died as the result of another serious accident at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and Gingercake Road.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, Wilbur Huddleston, 86, was being driven by his wife, Jane, when she tried to turn left onto Gingercake Road late Wednesday evening. The couple's vehicle was struck on the passenger side after the driver of the oncoming vehicle, April Sexton of Riverdale, could not avoid the Huddleston's car.

Neither Sexton nor Mrs. Huddleston were injured in the crash. Hunter Wade, 3, of Riverdale, was a passenger in Sexton's vehicle. He had minor injuries and was treated at Fayette Community Hospital.

The investigation into the wreck is not complete, but charges are pending, according to Lt. Bryan Woodie of the sheriff's department.
